Burke, Warren Welcomes New Associates
Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C. is pleased to welcome new attorneys Elizabeth A. Meyer, Ellen J. Westley, Adam R. Jung, Adam T. Rick and Sara Youn.
Elizabeth Meyer is a member of the Firm’s Litigation practice. Prior to her work as a summer associate at Burke, Warren in 2010, Ms. Meyer was a summer law clerk at the Midwest Center for Justice, where she worked on several death penalty cases. She also worked as an associate in both the Healthcare and the Environmental groups at the Law and Economic Consulting Group, LLC, before attending law school.
Ms. Meyer earned her B.A., cum laude, from Vanderbilt University, with degrees in Economics and Spanish. She earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the IIT Chicago-Kent School of Law in 2011. During law school, Ms. Meyer was elected to the Order of the Coif and received CALI awards for Torts, Legal Writing I, Legal Writing II, Trial Advocacy and the Law of Social Networks.
Ms. Meyer also served as a Notes and Comments Editor for the Chicago-Kent Law Review, as well as the Vice President of the Moot Court Honor Society. She was also chosen as one of the three top speakers at the 2010 Andrews Kurth National Moot Court Championship.

Ellen Westley is a member of the Firm’s Litigation practice. Prior to her work as a summer associate at Burke, Warren in 2010, Ms. Westley obtained a 711 license in order to serve clients at Loyola’s Community Law Clinic. She also completed a judicial externship with The Honorable Judge Der-Yeghiayan in the Northern District of Illinois and interned in Equip for Equality’s special education clinic.
In 2008, Ms. Westley earned her B.A. in English, magna cum laude, from Boston College. She earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2011. While in law school, Ms. Westley won the Regional Championship for the 2010-2011 National Moot Court Competition and the National Championship for the 2010 Robert F. Wagner Labor & Employment Law Competition. She also received the Gary David Friedman Award for her commitment to advocacy upon graduating in 2011. In addition to her Moot Court experience, Ms. Westley served as a writer and Senior News Editor for the Loyola Public Interest Law Reporter in 2009-2010.
Ms. Westley is a long-time member of the Association of Horizon, a non-profit organization that provides social opportunities for adults with disabilities, and continues to serve on the fundraising committee for the organization’s annual golf outing.

Adam Jung is an associate with experience in a wide variety of business transactions and works in the Firm’s Corporate practice where he concentrates on mergers and acquisitions, commercial finance, federal and state securities law, general business counseling and other commercial matters. Prior to joining Burke, Warren, Mr. Jung practiced at the Chicago offices of Patzik, Frank & Samotny Ltd. and Ungaretti & Harris LLP.
Mr. Jung received his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2003. While working toward his undergraduate degree, he served in numerous leadership positions of Delta Phi national fraternity, including Chapter President.
In 2006, Mr. Jung earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he was a Lincoln Scholar. During law school, he served as Section Editor and later, Managing Editor of The Illinois Business Law Journal. Mr. Jung also served as Vice President of the Board of Directors of Illini Media Company, an independent, non-profit corporation that operates a newspaper, radio station, yearbook, and various online media at the University.

Associate Adam Rick is a member of the Firm’s Religious and Not-For-Profit Organizations and Litigation practices. He has trial experience in both state and federal court. Before joining Burke, Warren, Mr. Rick worked at Preti Flaherty, a leading law firm in northern New England. At Preti Flaherty, Mr. Rick was part of a team that obtained a $19 million jury award in a federal court contract case based on the Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). For defendants, he has obtained summary judgment or dismissal of wrongful termination, tortious interference, and other claims.
Mr. Rick graduated first in his class from Franklin Pierce (now University of New Hampshire School of Law), where he was Editor-in-Chief of the law review.

Sara Youn, a member of the Firm’s Class Action Defense and Litigation practices, has experience in product liability cases, franchisor-franchisee disputes, mass torts and class action defense litigation. Before joining Burke, Warren, Ms. Youn practiced at Scandaglia & Ryan in Chicago and at Perkins Coie in Seattle, WA.
In 2002, Ms. Youn earned her B.A. in History, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University, where she was a member of Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society and a recipient of the George F. Baker Scholar and Rev. Royden B. Davis, S.J. scholarships. Ms. Youn was awarded her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2007. While attending law school, she served as Vice President of the University of Minnesota Asylum Law Project and was a Managing Editor for the Minnesota Law Review. Ms. Youn was a recipient of the Dean’s Elite Scholarship and was awarded First Year Legal Writing Honors for Best Brief and Best Section Oral Argument.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Youn served as an honors paralegal at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division and during law school, she was a judicial extern to the Honorable Gary Larson, District Court Judge for the Fourth Judicial District of Minnesota
