Joseph Frank is a Partner at Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C. and member of the Firm’s Restructuring, Insolvency, and Bankruptcy group. Joe serves as bankruptcy counsel to some of the largest public and private corporations in the United States, providing daily guidance on both routine and complex bankruptcy matters.
Appearing on behalf of clients in bankruptcy courts across the country, Joe represents creditors’ committees and asbestos claimants’ committees, and he has confirmed Chapter 11 plans on behalf of committees in bankruptcy courts in Delaware, Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, and New York. As a member of the Trial Bar for the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Joe regularly represents bankruptcy trustees and creditors in bankruptcy court litigation, files Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, and handles workouts for corporate debtors, including many real estate developers.
Joe frequently presents insights and key developments in bankruptcy law to a wide range of professional and industry groups. He has made many presentations at conferences concerning asbestos-related bankruptcy and has spoken on multiple occasions before the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Illinois CPA Society, and the Advertising Media Credit Executives Association. Joe is also a prolific writer, authoring a series on assumption and rejection of leases in bankruptcy for the Retail Law Strategist. He contributes a chapter annually on avoidance actions in bankruptcy for the bankruptcy treatise published by Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education, and he has contributed chapters in the past to the annual Bankruptcy Update published by Aspen Law & Business. Joe previously served on the Consulting Services Executive Committee of the Illinois CPA Society.
Prior to joining Burke Warren and after his tenure at national firms, Joe formed the law firm FrankGecker LLP in Chicago in 2005.
